Pixel 11 Pro or Pro XL: price, colours and which to buy

Hello Folks,

We at Daily Techocracy are back with some juicy info for all you kind readers....lets get to it !!

Google's Pixel 11 phones have been on sale since late August, and many people are still stuck on one question. Do you pick the Pixel 11 Pro or the bigger Pixel 11 Pro XL? The two phones look almost the same on paper, but the price gap is $200. Here is what you actually get for that money.

Quick answer: The Pixel 11 Pro starts at $1,099 and the Pixel 11 Pro XL starts at $1,299 in the US. Both use the Tensor G6 chip, offer 12GB or 16GB of RAM and come in Canyon, Olive, Fog and Matte Obsidian. The XL has a bigger 6.8-inch screen and a bigger battery. If you want a smaller phone, the Pro is the better buy.

How much does the Pixel 11 Pro cost?

The Pixel 11 Pro starts at $1,099 in the US, and the Pixel 11 Pro XL starts at $1,299. Pre-orders opened on 12 August 2026 and both phones shipped on 20 August, according to Android Police's recap of the Made by Google event.

Both phones come in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB versions. I could only confirm the starting prices, so check the Google Store for the cost of the bigger storage sizes.

What is the difference between the Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL?

The main differences are screen size and battery. The Pro has a 6.3-inch screen and a 4,850 mAh battery. The Pro XL has a 6.8-inch screen and a 5,115 mAh battery. The chip, the RAM options and the storage options are the same.

In short: the Pro costs $1,099 with a 6.3-inch screen and 4,850 mAh battery, while the Pro XL costs $1,299 with a 6.8-inch screen and 5,115 mAh battery. Both have the Tensor G6 chip.

The battery gap is small, about 5 percent on paper. That is why I think the extra $200 is mostly a screen-size choice, not a battery choice. Real battery life depends on how you use the phone, and I haven't tested these phones.

What colours does the Pixel 11 Pro come in?

The Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL both come in four colours: Canyon, Olive, Fog and Matte Obsidian. Canyon is a warm coral pink, Olive is a muted green, Fog is a pale grey-green and Obsidian is black.

The regular Pixel 11 uses a different set: Frost, Pistachio, Hibiscus and Obsidian. If you are still deciding between the base phone and the Pro, our Pixel 11 release date and price guide has the background.

What does the Pixel 11 Pro Fold add?

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is the foldable in the range. It costs $1,899 for the 256GB model with 16GB of RAM. It also uses the Tensor G6 chip and has a 4,806 mAh battery, according to 9to5Google's hands-on. It comes in Olive and Obsidian, and it shipped on 20 August too.

Google says the back of the Fold is made from a glass fibre material that is "nearly impossible to crack". That is Google's claim, not a test result.

Should you buy now or wait?

If you need a new phone now, buy now. These phones have been out for two months, and I haven't found any official Google word on a new Pixel arriving soon. Waiting only makes sense if you want a sale price, so keep an eye on the Google Store and your carrier for deals.

Pick the Pro if you like a phone that fits in one hand and sits easily in a pocket. Pick the Pro XL if you watch a lot of video, read on your phone or just like a big screen. Either way, go for a bigger storage size only if you shoot a lot of video, since the base 256GB is already roomy.

What about the Pixel Tag?

The Pixel Tag is Google's new Bluetooth tracker, priced at $30 for one or $100 for a four-pack. Android Police's table lists it as shipping on 11 November, though its own text says pre-orders come "in the coming months". Treat the November date as likely, not certain. Our Pixel Glow explainer covers another new Pixel 11 feature.

For the official specs and prices, see the Google Store, and for the launch details, read the 9to5Google hands-on and the Android Police event recap.

The short version: the Pro is the sensible pick for most people, and the XL is for those who really want the bigger screen.
