Amazon Alexa Tablets: price, models and release date

Hello Folks,

We at Daily Techocracy are back with some juicy info for all you kind readers....lets get to it !!

Amazon has a brand-new family of tablets, and the big news isn't the screen or the price. For the first time, an Amazon tablet comes with the full Google Play Store. That means YouTube, Gmail, Netflix and Google Docs install the normal way, with no workarounds. The new Amazon Alexa Tablets were announced on 8 October 2026, and they start shipping this week. Here's what each model costs, what you get and whether you should buy one.

Quick answer: Amazon's Alexa Tablets come in three sizes: the Alexa Tablet 8 ($229.99), the Alexa Tablet 11 ($329.99) and the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro ($499.99). All three run Android with the Google Play Store and Alexa+ built in. They ship on 14 October 2026 in the US, Canada and Mexico, and on 19 October in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain.

What are the Amazon Alexa Tablets?

The Alexa Tablets are a new line of Amazon tablets that run Android with full Google Play Store access, plus Amazon's new Alexa+ assistant. Amazon says they are an all-new product line with new hardware and software, not a rebrand of Fire tablets.

That's a real change. Amazon's older Fire tablets ran Fire OS and used Amazon's own app store, which missed a lot of popular apps. Getting Google apps on a Fire tablet meant sideloading, which is installing apps from outside the store. With the Alexa Tablets, you just open the Play Store and download what you want. Amazon's own apps, like Prime Video, Kindle, Audible and Amazon Music, come built in.

Amazon shared the full details in its official announcement, and TechCrunch confirmed the line-up and prices the same day.

Alexa Tablet 8, 11 and 12 Pro: price and specs

There are three models. The Alexa Tablet 8 is the small, light one for reading and video. The Alexa Tablet 11 is the everyday family tablet. The Alexa Tablet 12 Pro is the big one, with a faster screen and optional pen and keyboard.

The three Alexa Tablets side by side.

In short, the Alexa Tablet 8 costs $229.99 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, the Alexa Tablet 11 costs $329.99 with 8GB and 64GB, and the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro costs $499.99 with 8GB and 128GB.

Alexa Tablet 8

The Alexa Tablet 8 has an 8.7-inch screen in an all-aluminium body. It weighs just 329 grams and is 7.95mm thin, so it's easy to hold in one hand for a long read. It has Wi-Fi 6 and lasts up to 14 hours of video. Colours are Graphite, Rosette and Teal.

Alexa Tablet 11

The Alexa Tablet 11 has an 11-inch 2.5K screen at 90Hz. A higher refresh rate like 90Hz makes scrolling look smoother. It has 8GB of RAM, two Dolby Atmos speakers and up to 15 hours of video playback. You can pick Graphite, Amethyst or Matcha.

Alexa Tablet 12 Pro

The Alexa Tablet 12 Pro has a 12-inch, 120Hz screen in a taller 3:2 shape, which is nicer for documents and web pages. It's only 6.5mm thin and has four Dolby Atmos speakers, Wi-Fi 6E and up to 16 hours of video. Amazon says it's nearly three times faster than its previous tablets, with nine times the graphics performance.

For $549.99, you can get a Nanomatte version with an anti-glare screen. That's handy if you read or work near a window. Amazon says the 12 Pro comes with up to 16GB of RAM, so check the exact model before you order.

Pro Pen and Pro Keyboard prices

The Alexa Tablet 12 Pro works with two new accessories: the Pro Pen for $89.99 and the Pro Keyboard for $149.99. Together they turn the tablet into a small laptop for notes, email and light editing.

The Pro Pen and Pro Keyboard are made for the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro.

The Pro Pen uses the USI 2.0 standard, with 4,096 pressure levels and tilt support. It snaps onto the tablet with a magnet and charges wirelessly. The keyboard attaches magnetically too, so there's no Bluetooth pairing to fight with. If you write notes in Kindle books with the pen, they sync to your other Kindle apps and a Kindle Scribe.

What can Alexa+ do on the new tablets?

Alexa+ is built into every Alexa Tablet. You can say "Alexa" or tap the Ask Alexa button, and it can talk back and forth with you without the wake word each time.

  • On-Screen Intelligence: Alexa can look at what's on your screen and help with it. It's off by default, so you have to turn it on yourself, and you can switch it off again in Settings.
  • Live sessions: a hands-free chat where you don't need to say "Alexa" before every question.
  • A personal home screen: a For You feed and a Dynamic Tab that change with what you use.

I'm glad the screen-reading feature is opt-in. It's useful, but it should be your choice, not Amazon's.

Kindle reading mode

Every Alexa Tablet has a Kindle reading mode that lasts up to 20 hours on one charge. You can pick natural colour, a softer paper tone or grayscale. It won't feel exactly like an e-ink Kindle, but it's a nice touch for people who read on their tablet at night.

Alexa Tablets release date and where to buy

You can order the Alexa Tablets now. They ship on 14 October 2026 in the US, Canada and Mexico, and on 19 October 2026 in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain.

In the US, they're sold on Amazon.com, at Best Buy and at Target. Amazon also has new Amazon Kids Tablets in 8.7-inch and 11-inch sizes. They come with a kid-proof case and one year of Amazon Kids+, and they also launch in Japan on 14 October. Amazon hasn't shared India prices or dates yet.

Should you buy an Alexa Tablet or wait?

If you've avoided Amazon tablets because of the missing apps, this is the moment to look again. The Play Store fixes the biggest problem those tablets had.

  • Buy the Alexa Tablet 8 if you want a light tablet for reading, YouTube and video calls.
  • Buy the Alexa Tablet 11 if you want one tablet the whole family can share.
  • Look at the 12 Pro if you want a pen and keyboard for notes and work, but compare it with other Android tablets first. At $499.99 plus $239.98 for both accessories, it's not a budget buy any more.

My advice is to wait for the first reviews if you're eyeing the 12 Pro, because real-world speed and battery life matter at that price. The smaller models are an easier call. Either way, Amazon finally made a tablet that plays nicely with the apps people really use. That alone makes the Alexa Tablets worth a look this week.
